Herons’ Moor Pre-School

Our pre-school provides a nurturing and stimulating environment for children aged 3 to 4 years, offering 32 places within our academy setting. Being integrated within the academy allows children to benefit from shared facilities, a strong sense of community, and a smooth transition into school life.

Admissions

Children are welcomed into the pre-school from the term after their third birthday. This ensures that every child can access their funded early education entitlement in line with national guidance.

Learning and Development

The pre-school follows the Development Matters framework, supporting each child’s individual learning journey across all areas of the Early Years Foundation Stage (EYFS). Through play-based learning, exploration, and guided activities, children develop essential skills in communication, physical development, personal and social growth, literacy, and numeracy.

Key Workers

Each child is assigned a key worker who builds a close relationship with them and their family. The key worker ensures that every child’s needs, interests, and progress are carefully observed and supported. This approach helps children feel secure, confident, and valued as individuals.

Staff and Ratios

Our experienced and qualified early years practitioners maintain a 1:8 adult-to-child ratio, ensuring that every child receives the attention and guidance they need. The team works collaboratively to create a safe, inclusive, and engaging environment where children can thrive.

Meals and Additional Options

All funded hours are fully covered, with no additional charges for standard sessions. The only optional costs are for hot lunches or wraparound care. Families may choose to purchase a hot lunch or send a packed lunch from home.

Wraparound care is available from 8:00–9:00am and 3:00–3:30pm, providing flexible support for families who need extended hours. These are the only services that require an additional payment; everything else is included within the funded entitlement.

A Strong Start for Every Child

By combining high-quality early education with the resources and community of the wider academy, our pre-school provides the ideal foundation for lifelong learning, curiosity, and confidence.
