Team talk relaunched at Herons’ Moor to boost oracy

Herons Moor Academy has relaunched its innovative Team Talk programme with the aim of developing pupils oracy skills – learning to talk, learning through talk, and learning to listen.

As part of the initiative, pupils from Years 1 to 6 were placed into mixed-age groups, encouraging collaboration across year levels.

In the opening session, every child had the opportunity to introduce themselves and share what they most enjoy about school, fostering confidence and a sense of community.

A spokesperson for Herons’ Moor Academy said: “Team Talk is about giving every child a voice.

“By bringing together pupils of different ages, we are creating a supportive environment where they can build confidence, listen to others, and learn the skills of effective communication.

“These are vital skills not only for success in school, but also for life beyond the classroom.”
