Pupils embark on wild Forest School adventure

It was a huge adventure into the wilds for Year 2 pupils at Herons’ Moor Academy as they had their first taste of the outdoor learning experience that is Forest School.
Forest School is a long-term, child-centred approach to outdoor learning that helps children build confidence, resilience and a range of skills through regular exploration and interaction with nature.
The pupils enjoyed getting hands-on with the natural environment as they explored the forest, searching for plants, flowers and wildlife.
They also searched high and low for conkers, with pupils taking great delight in opening the prickly shells to reveal the conkers hidden inside.
The adventure provided plenty of opportunities for the children to explore, discover and learn together while enjoying the freedom of the great outdoors.
A spokesperson for Herons’ Moor Academy said: “The children absolutely loved their first Forest School adventure.
“It was wonderful to see their excitement as they explored the woodland, discovered plants and wildlife and searched for conkers.
“Experiences like this give our pupils the opportunity to learn in a completely different environment while developing their confidence, curiosity and resilience.”
