Herons’ Moor pupils enjoy residential at historic castle

Children from Herons’ Moor Academy swapped the classroom for a castle as they embarked on an action-packed, fun-filled two-day residential experience.

The 12th-century St Briavels Castle, perched 800 feet above the stunning Wye Valley, became home to 56 Year 4 pupils during their stay. The trip offered an exciting opportunity for learning, teamwork and adventure in a unique historic setting.

Throughout the visit, pupils took part in a wide range of engaging activities including archery, cookery sessions, and a grand tour of the castle. The experience also featured numerous outdoor challenges designed to build confidence, resilience and collaboration.

A spokesperson said: “This residential trip provided a fantastic opportunity for our pupils to step outside their comfort zones, learn new skills and create lasting memories with their classmates.

“Experiences like this are invaluable in supporting both personal development and a love of learning.”
