Herons’ Moor pupils enjoy cricket club

You’d be a silly mid-off if you didn’t sign up for Herons’ Moor Academy’s Monday night cricket club!

Run by teacher Liam Barnett, the club has proved a hit with pupils, who have enthusiastically embraced the opportunity to learn new skills, improve their game and enjoy the spirit of cricket in a fun and supportive environment.

Sessions give pupils the chance to develop their batting, bowling, catching and fielding techniques, with Liam providing guidance and encouragement as they build confidence and improve their abilities on the pitch.

The pupils have really engaged with the challenging sessions, showing enthusiasm, determination and a willingness to learn. Alongside developing their cricketing skills, they have also demonstrated excellent sportsmanship, learning the importance of teamwork, fair play and supporting one another.

A spokesperson for Herons’ Moor Academy said: “It has been fantastic to see how positively the pupils have taken to the Monday night cricket club.

“They have shown real enthusiasm for the sessions and are developing their skills, confidence and teamwork week by week.

“Cricket is a brilliant way to encourage children to challenge themselves, try something new and learn the value of supporting one another.

“We are very grateful to Liam for his time, commitment and encouragement in making the club such an enjoyable experience for everyone involved.”
