Herons’ Moor marks Armistice Day

Staff and pupils at Herons’ Moor Academy reflected on the importance of remembering those who have lost their lives in conflicts, both past and present.

At a special Armistice Day assembly, pupils learnt about the significance of the poppy as a symbol of hope and remembrance, and why we have Remembrance Day.

Armistice Day is observed in Britain every 11 November to mark the agreement signed between the Allies and Germany that brought an end to the First World War.

Georgie Tinker, Principal of Herons’ Moor Academy, said: “It is vital that our children understand the importance of remembrance not only to honour those who sacrificed their lives, but also to reflect on the value of peace and unity in our world today.

“We are proud of how thoughtfully our pupils have engaged with this important part of our history.”
