Herons’ Moor forest schoolers tune into nature

Year 2 pupils at Herons’ Moor Academy had a wonderful time taking part in a special listening walk as part of their forest school activities.
The children explored the outdoor area and used their senses to tune into the world around them.
By closing their eyes and focusing on sounds, they were able to identify a variety of noises in nature from the rustling of leaves to the chirping of different birds.
The session encouraged mindfulness, curiosity, and a deeper appreciation of the natural environment, all key parts of the school’s forest school ethos.
A spokesperson for Herons’ Moor Academy said: “We love giving our pupils the chance to connect with nature in such a meaningful way.
“The listening walk helped them slow down, notice the world around them, and develop their listening and observation skills in a fun and engaging way.”
