Pupils at Herons’ Moor Academy learning all about blood
Year 6 pupils at Herons’ Moor Academy acted as scientists during an exciting hands-on lesson about blood.
As part of their learning, pupils created their own representations of blood using everyday food items, turning ideas into a memorable and fun experience.
Using water and food colouring to represent plasma, Cheerios as red blood cells, Rice Krispies as white blood cells, and marshmallows as platelets, pupils built a deeper understanding of the vital components that make up our blood.
A spokesperson for the school said: “This engaging activity not only helped pupils understand the science of blood but also inspired curiosity and creativity.
“By recreating blood in this hands-on way, pupils could truly appreciate how each component works together to keep us healthy.”
